![]() That’s a huge plus especially if you’re playing something like Minecraft Pocket Edition or any other game that supports a controller. ![]() As a bonus, you’ll also be able to use your PS4 controller as a controller for Android games. You’ll get a much better PS4 Remote Play experience. You can use your PS4 DualShock 4 controller with the Xperia 1 over Bluetooth. This does work in a pinch if you want to just turn your PS4 on and do something remotely with it that isn’t gaming, such as setting a game to download or managing your dashboard. You can use PS4 Remote Play without a controller, but it’s not the best way to use it. As long as you have a strong Wi-Fi connection, you’ll be good, though I do recommend highly that your PS4 be connected via a LAN connection for a much more stable experience. It doesn’t take much to get it to work with the Xperia 1. That means even if you own another Android device or decide to go with another brand, you can at lease PS4 Remote Play on a laptop running Windows or OSX.īack to the Xperia 1, PS4 Remote Play works very well on it, which is no surprise considering it worked quite well on previous Xperia devices as well. However, it might not be the killer app it once was mainly because PS4 Remote Play has made its way to so many other devices out there, as stated above. In terms of usefulness, PS4 Remote Play while on the go is still pretty fun with the Sony Xperia 1 being one of the only current flagship Android devices that can run it (legitimately). That means devices such as their new Xperia 1 support PS4 Remote Play and all you need to do is head over to the Google Play Store and download the PS4 Remote Play app.ĭisclaimer: The Xperia 1 device I am currently testing was sent to me by Sony’s PR team on a 60 day loan and I am testing it with my own personal AT&T sim card. However, they have to be Xperia flagship devices as their mid-range phones don’t support it. I didn’t mention Android devices because that’s the one place Sony Xperia devices still have an advantage as those are the only devices that can Remote Play on Android. What was once a killer feature on Sony Xperia devices only, is now available on Apple iOS devices as well as Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 computers and Mac OS X Yosemite or OS X El Capitan. It’s been a good long while since I’ve talked about Remote Play on the PS4.
